Indic Culture is a place to look at and download images of Indic art, temples, festivals and verse. You don’t need an account to use it, and we collect as little as we can.

What we don’t do

Cookies

The public site sets two small cookies, only so it works the way you left it:

theme
Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Kept for one year.
likes
Remembers which images you have liked, so each browser can like an image once. It holds only image numbers and is kept for two years.

The site’s administrator also has a sign-in cookie, used only on the admin pages. You can delete these cookies at any time in your browser settings; the site will simply forget your theme and likes.

Likes and downloads

When you like or download an image we add one to its count, and for downloads we record the date and time so we can see how the collection is used. These counts are not linked to you or your device.

Search

Your searches are used to show results and suggestions. We don’t keep a log of them, and they are not linked to you.

Images and hosting

Images are delivered from our storage provider, and the site runs on a hosting provider. Like any website, these services receive your IP address and the pages or files you request so they can deliver them, and they may keep short-lived technical logs for security and reliability.

To protect the admin area, the IP address of a failed admin sign-in attempt is kept for up to 24 hours to limit repeated guessing. This applies only to the admin sign-in page.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
